AITI 2008 International Conference

"The profession of translator and interpreter: ethics, quality and life-long learning"

The AITI 2008 Conference (Friday 6th and Saturday 7th June 2008) is organised for professional translators and interpreters in Italy and abroad.

The two-day event includes a plenary session addressing four key issues for today’s professionals: code of ethics, status of translators and interpreters, quality of translation services, and translation copyright.

Discussants will include experts, professional translators and interpreters, and representatives of non Italian translator and interpreter associations belonging to IFT (International Federation of Translators).

Simultaneous translation will be provided (English and French) for the plenary sessions.

The concomitant parallel sessions will focus on permanent training with a broad range of workshops designed to offer practical tips and professional updates.

Topics include: technical and medical translation, multimedial translation, literary translation, terminology, localisation, and conference interpretation.

Several social get-togethers have been scheduled with coffee breaks, lunches and a dinner party on the evening of Friday 6th with musical entertainment.

As one of the rare events held in Italy in our sector, the AITI 2008 Conference is an exceptional opportunity for professional updates and an exchange of news and views. The Conference is open to the public on the conditions indicated on the registration form. We look forward to welcoming many of you to Bologna.
